About
Back by Dark is made for clubs that share ground.
Back by Dark is a stand booking, scan check-in and hunter-safety app for hunting clubs and leases. It is made by Cisco Sanchez LLC and founded by Cisco Sanchez, a technology executive who has spent nearly three decades building and running systems that have to work when people depend on them.
The problem it solves is old and simple: who is in which stand, and did everyone get back. A sign-in board at the gate cannot answer that from the truck, and a group text cannot answer it at all once somebody stops replying.
How it is built
Four rules the product does not bend.
These are the engineering rules Back by Dark is built on, stated plainly. Each is enforced in code, not left to a setting.
Location only during a hunt
A member’s position is shared with their club between checking in and checking out, and at no other time. The server refuses to store a position from anyone who is not checked in.
Built for no signal
Stands are where the bars are not. Maps, stands and check-in work offline, and everything a member does sends itself when the phone is back in range — once, never twice.
Never block what already happened
Back by Dark may stop a member reserving a stand. It will never stop a member checking out of a stand they are sitting in, or recording something they saw.
A scan proves the stand
Checking in needs the tag on the stand itself. The stand’s short code is never accepted, because that would let anyone check in from the truck.
